| With regards to REDiSAFE Data backup |
|
| Q |
Can multiple computers at different locations backup to the same account? |
| A |
No. Each REDiSAFE backup account corresponds to a single machine. To retrieve backup data to another machine, the user will be required to retrieve the existing user registration, which is password protected, into the new machine. |
|
| Q |
Does the computer need to be left on all night? |
| A |
No. As REDiSAFE Local Server is always available in office LAN, you may schedule your backups to occur at any time of the day. |
|
| Q |
If I have logged out of my PC, but kept my PC running, will REDiSAFE continue to perform the scheduled backups? |
| A |
REDiSAFE requires the user to be logged on to perform the scheduled backups. |

|
| Q |
Can REDiSAFE handle program file and system files? |
| A |
REDiSAFE can backup any files, including program and system files, provided the REDiSAFE client has sufficient security permissions to access the files. However, we do not recommend backing up system files through REDiSAFE; the nature of system files (eg. Windows Registry Files) may not allow for clean backups. A future version may address this issue. |
|
| Q |
Can we backup email from Outlook Express? |
| A |
No. For Outlook Express, we can backup the DBX files to the server with encryption but with no support for incremental backup. |
|
| Q |
Can REDiSAFE backup open file or can it backup the files while the user is using the document? |
| A |
REDiSAFE is able to backup open files with the Open File Manager programme. |
|
| Q |
Can REDiSAFE backup my network? |
| A |
Yes. REDiSAFE can backup data from your mapped network drive. |
|
| Q |
How do I backup a shared folder that’s shared among few staffs in the same department? |
| A |
First of all, create an account on the server where the shared folder is and set a schedule to backup this folder. |
|
| Q |
What will happen to the backup when there is a power failure? |
| A |
The REDiSAFE server will stop processing where there’s a power failure. The backup will not run. After power resumes, the backup will continue from where it last backup.
For example, when the power failure triggers, backup stopped at 50% of the files. When the schedule re-kicks in when the power resumes, the backup will start from 51% of the files onwards. |
