With regards to REDiSAFE Function-abilities & Features
Q What is the maximum ratio of the compression of data?
A In terms of compression, we are getting between 30-80% compression rates in most standard documents. As for compressed graphics or files, it’s usually 1-5%. There are numerous instances where document files are compressed up to 90%. The compression therefore varies quite a little but our experience is that most user fall into 60-70% category overall.
Q
What do you mean by “Recover a virus-free version of an infected file in the event of Virus Attack”, as indicated in your brochure?
A

REDiSAFE does incremental backup of files that has been changed over time. When a file is infected by virus, in most cases, user may lose the data because most backup solution only backs-up one copy of the file. REDiSAFE backs-up data incrementally, and keeps multiple copies of the data depending on the user’s configuration set. Users can then simply chose to recover an earlier version of the file that is virus free and restore it back to the notebook or PC. When REDiSAFE performs file restoration, it will never overwrite the original file. It will only add a time stamp to the file and disable its extension.

Q

What is incremental backup and how does REDiSAFE implement that?

A Incremental backup is a backup which only the data objects that have modified since the last backup are copied. REDiSAFE’s client program performs incremental backups at the file level. This means that backups will only be performed on files that have been modified. This is to avoid any redundant backup action if the file is already up-to-date.
Q

Does REDiSAFE provide Real-Time Backup?

A

No. Real-time backup consumes too much system resources to be practical on a typical user machine. REDiSAFE instead provides a flexible scheduler that allows you to set when and how often you want to perform a backup.
